Opportunities to learn more about forgiveness and mental health

Tim has had the opportunity to speak on a number of topics around forgiveness and mental health —  from the basics to the role of forgiveness in helping prevent suicide. Highlights from 2023 include the National Federation of Families Conference in Chicago, Children Come First Conference, keynoting at the CESA #5 Paraprofessionals Summit and the Rock County CIT summit. Tim has delivered keynotes at The Children Come First Conference, CESA 5 Mental and Behavioral Health Summit and Crivitz High School Mental Health Summit (best t-shirt ever!) Tim presented a seminar on Forgiving in an Unforgiving World for Great Lakes Rural Opioid Technical Assistance Regional Center, Lifest 2019, and Sugar Creek Bible Camp. He has spoken for people at Prairie du Chein Correctional, Juvenile Justice workers, Diversion Program workers, educators, adolescent health professionals, along with families in the autism community and the greater disability community, and professionals working with our elderly population. In July of 2022, Tim was presented with the Healing Hearts Hero Award at the International Agape Love and Forgiveness Conference for “his years of commitment to helping others learn about the virtues of self-forgiveness and interpersonal forgiveness.”

Using a unique combination of humor, personal experiences and insights from Dr. Enright’s work, Tim touches on the mental and emotional aspects of living a healthy life.  With forgiveness at the heart of Tim’s speaking, he has developed a number of  presentations and is open to designing what you need to encourage your people. From growing up in an alcoholic household and then struggling with his own alcoholism; through jobs in education, churches, health care and outreach, Tim brings a lot of lived experience to his presentations. He continues to battle addictions, mental health challenges and past trauma. Through sharing with others how he lives today, he hopes to encourage and empower others to keep living.

Below are a few of the topics (not exhaustive):

The Role of Forgiveness in Mental Health

What if we had a way to actually deal with our resentments and anger? What if we looked at how we were trying to deal with them and found it wasn’t working? Learn the basis of forgiveness and how it can help lead us to better mental health.

Forgiving Yourself

What do you do if the person who has hurt you, who has damaged your life, who you struggle with . . . is yourself? It might be forgiving yourself for what you have done to others or to yourself. There are ways to help us forgive ourselves.

The Role of Forgiveness in Suicide Prevention and Recovery

Can forgiveness help someone step back from suicide? Can forgiveness help the family and friends who have been hurt by a completed suicide? (Originally presented at the Suicide Prevention Conference (UW-La Crosse)

How to Survive Yourself (my story of addictions, self-injury and suicidal thoughts)

Life isn’t easy. I found out sometimes I was my worse enemy. I have dealt with hurting myself, suicidal desires and a few addictions along the way. Maybe I can help you learn how not to deal with pain through sharing my personal story.

Turning Pits into Tunnels: Staying Mentally Healthy

I have struggled with depression for most of my life. Depression is often misunderstood and I get tired of people telling me to “buck up.” I have learned a few things in my journey living with depression and mental health challenges and would love to share them.

The Power of Shame

What is Shame? How does it differ from Guilt? How do we deal with our own shame and how can we try to not shame others? (Based on the work of Brene Brown.)

The Role of Forgiveness in Addiction Recovery

Overcoming addiction is HARD! How can forgiving others and ourselves help us to recover from our addictions?

Leaving a Legacy

Anger, resentment, mistrust can all be passed down from generation to generation. What if Love, Mercy, and Forgiveness have the same lasting impact? What will your legacy be?

Life Lessons from Dr. Seuss

We all know life’s hard and seems full of stress. But is there a way to live life in a mess? Can I be healthy? Can I be well? We can learn to think better, we can learn ways to be great. We can learn from the doctor, we don’t have to wait.

Finding Gold in the People Around Us

How can we help people become the unique, special awesome person they are meant to be? It starts with our attitude followed by actions.

Thoughts, Feelings, Actions, Oh My!

The longer I live the more I see how my thoughts influence my feelings and actions and how my behavior has an effect on my thoughts and feelings and how what I am feeling can change my behavior and thoughts. We cannot work on one area of our life without it effecting the others. This can be a good thing and a not so good thing. Let’s explore this together.
